W.W.J.D. RADIO PROGRAM NOT ON LIVE YET

NEEDED: HELP LISTENING SO THAT I CAN IMPROVE WITH FEEDBACK.

You see, when you have a LIVE audience you have instant feedback, and you can adjust accordingly. Also when you are on a radio station live, you can have call in feedback. That's what I did the last time W.W.J.D. was on the air: 2005-2006, they actually called me THE GOD DOCTOR, because I took regular calls in and helped people with Spiritual/Psychological issues.

This is my third time on a regular radio show, my second time producing and hosting. This time is different in that I am no longer broadcasting over a small reaching local radio station. NOW OUR W.W.J.D. RADIO PROGRAM IS BROADCAST TO THE WORLD VIA THE INTERNET! Use to, I didn't have to watch so closely what I said or did. Now our potential audience is HUGE! It is exciting, but in a way kind of scary. Plus, it's tons more work, because I have to be more careful about content: I try hard to never quote anything or anyone without the proper information to back it up, so that is not too much of a problem. The HARD WORK part is the original songs! Now, I have written, I don't know, up to this point maybe 300 to 350 in my life-time: I started writing about age 14. However, and many of those are my W.W.J.D. Songs For the Young At Heart. I often find myself writing as much as a new W.W.J.D. Song a week! Now, I am not telling you that we get a complete song finished with all the over-lays and different tracks we want done in a week, but sometimes we do. So, one neat thing is you will hear are some songs in progress: you will hear the basic bare-bones song, and then the next week will have laid another track over it.

If we could concentrate more time on W.W.J.D. Songs and, I guess if we had more money to pay out for production, we could get what we want done all at once. So, you see where we need help. PLEASE LISTEN TO THE W.W.J.D. INTERNET BROADCAST ON KTLV1220.COM FRIDAYS 7-8P OR SUNDAYS 4:30-5:30P, AND IF YOU HEAR SOMETHING YOU LIKE, LET ME KNOW.

WHAT WOULD JESUS DO THOUGHTS

W.W.J.D.
WHAT WOULD JESUS DO ASSOCIATION

WHAT WOULD JESUS DO THOUGHTS …

All of these questions came to my mind after reading, together with my adopted dad, Raymond Charles Ray Sherman, Charles Shelton’s book, In His Steps. It was MORE than JUST a WHAT WOULD JESUS DO PHILOSOPHY; it was to me a complete revolution in society as we know it I was shooting for! I asked myself: What if all TRUE BELIEVERS actually asked themselves the question:

WHAT WOULD DO?

(Insert your own name, of course)

Before saying or doing anything? I began to get excited as I pondered on just HOW that would change society as we know it. Then all sorts thoughts popped into my mind as I tried to implement this in my own life:

WHEN WOULD JESUS DO?

WHICH WOULD JESUS DO?

WHY WOULD JESUS DO?

HOW WOULD JESUS DO?

WHAT DOES JESUS WANT?

WHAT DOES JESUS STAND FOR?

WHAT JESUS DID

THE W.W.J.D. PHILOSOPHY stemmed actually from me asking the specific question of myself:

WHAT WOULD SANDY LYNN PATTON DO?:

It was the spring of 1998 in my hometown of Okemah, Oklahoma. It seemed everywhere we attempted to take the grassroots movement of:

ACCEPTING ANYONE AND EVERYONE
NO MATTER WHAT BACKGROUND

into the local churches: had failed. The Hispanic, American Indian and smaller country side churches were more accepting and were actively associating with us. However, our question still remained: what were we going to do with our mixed herd of new converts? We bused them to the country churches for a while –until that task was more than my dad and I could handle; then we got down on our knees and prayed. We cried and begged our Father in Heaven for an answer. We agreed that we would do whatever He wanted us to do, only we begged God in Jesus name to show us what to do and how to do it. I remember Dad's prayer so strongly I can almost hear his voice saying this to the Lord:

LORD, if You don't go with us, don't send us!

The result was the birth of W.W.J.D. an association of individuals, churches or other organizations cooperating together to do what Jesus would do.

THE WHAT WOULD JESUS DO MOVEMENT WAS BORN!

W.W.J.D. was born out of a prayer of desperation, a prayer of seeking, a prayer of surrender, a prayer of commitment to follow where ever and however He would personal lead us.

THE COST?

All that we had

All that we were

All that we would be

WE SURRENDERED IT All

Have you ever personally asked yourself that pointed question?

How W.W.J.D. or What Would Jesus Do Association began

The name W.W.J.D. of our nonprofit organization came from my Dad (my adopted Dad, Raymond Charles "Ray" Sherman) and myself reading together the book In His Steps by Charles Shelton. In each Christian's life, in Sheldon's book, when they asked themselves: "What Would Jesus Do?" and changed their life's actions accordingly; in doing so they were stating with their lives --which speak much louder than words, that Jesus was NOT ONLY their Saviour, but also their LORD! I said, as we finished the book: "Dad, let's do it! Let's start a What Would Jesus Do Movement right here!" He said: "Sandy, the rich will never give up their wealth to help the poor like they did in that book, that's a fairly tale." "If the Spirit of the Living Lord wants them too they will!" I answered back. So, we decided with that to spend and do all that we had to reach the down and out in Okfuskee County and prayed that others would join in.

The response of the down and out was very encouraging: in the later 1990's we did a great work, with at least 100 new converts yearly from jail, nursing home, mentally retarded home, psychiatric clients, hospital and street ministry. However, to our great dismay our new converts often were not welcomed in many of the local churches! In fact, the general attitude of the church seemed to be that if you were down and out, your own actions probably put you there, so why should we care! (In 1995 in Okemah, the ministerial alliance only helped assist those passing through to go ahead on and leave; and they would help those who lived in the county if they had a fire or a tornado.) During those years my Dad and I were seen as angels by one third of the county, demon-possessed by one third of the county and the other third was staying out any judgments --waiting, if you will to see how it came out.

When my Dad died, and my Mama died, I found out what pressures in society can do! I was threatened and harassed so badly that at one point I had to flee my home, which was also the church! I was called in the County Court House and I was yelled out and threatened by a judge: "You're not the only one God talks too! I'm going to throw you in jail if you don't stop!" I told him that I didn't know how he thought that he could put me in jail, but that if he did, since I went to the jail every week: "I'll just minister from the inside. " Then I told him: "If you put a gun to my head with your hand on the trigger and said to me: 'STOP OR I'LL SHOOT!' I'd say 'GO AHEAD AND SHOOT!' I will NOT STOP what I am doing!" I was NOT going to be run out or stopped, but shortly afterwards a family emergency moved me to Oklahoma City.

It took a while for things to change, and some things still need changing, but things in Okfuskee County, are much much better. For example: Dad had started a fund at FBC of Okemah called "FRIENDS" which is to help anyone who asks for assistance by giving them $20. Ray Sherman died in 2000, yet the fund goes on. During his life he led THOUSANDS to the Lord, by the example of giving of himself to help meet their needs --that was the door that opened up their spiritual ears. The FRIENDS idea and fund still exists today, and the ministerial alliance now helps those in need in the county. Ten years later, the judge is dead, and the community has decided that Dad and I were pretty good after all.

"For to this you were called, because Messiah also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow His steps"I Peter 2.21

Now, I am the first and only Southern Baptist ordained and licensed woman in the state of Oklahoma. I am the Assistant Pastor of Westlawn Baptist Church where we employ the same principles and the W.W.J.D. radio/Internet program is on KTLV1220.com Friday 7-8pm and Sunday 4:30-5:30pm both CST.
